4th of July

Here are a few pictures from the Fourth of July weekend. Our good friend from college, Quang, came in from Little Rock, AR to spend a day with us. Since its a big occasion for him to come we decided to have a BBQ for him and some friends/coworkers.

Quang was the grill master. I'm not sure how he got appointed. Maybe its all those years tailgating at the Tech games

Quang being sneaky!
John teasing Mac with the water guns.
Hence Mac started to attack said water guns.

A banner I put up and a few more decorations.
The pool we had out for the dogs and occasional hot feet.
The set up in the back of our 'plex.
Matt and Quang on the slip and slide. They were the bravest of us all. I tried but was doing it wrong, of course. How can you mess that up? John tried it as well and fell, he thinks he cracked a rib, always ruining the party. Just joking, but he really thinks he did bruise it.

The Grill Masters.
Quang and I!
Twizzlers all fancied up. I found this idea on Pinterest here. Along with a bottle of Moscato that John brought.

The handsome hubbs!

My Fourth of July sprinkled cupcakes. Fancy huh? I need a lot of work on my decorating but hey, I'm no MaryLou.

Momma's got a new pair of shoes

Momma's got a new pair of shoes....well, not yet, but they are on their way. I am super excited to finally get my first pair of TOMS shoes. I ordered these babies below and CANT wait to receive them.  I first heard of them many years ago and thought they were so cute. The creator Blake Mycoskie, (who was on "The Amazing Race") started a company that gives a pair of shoes to children in need whenever you buy a pair. One for One. How great is that!!! After years of debating on what color and where to get them, I finally decided on these. They are called Academy Plaid. Don't they remind you of a teachers jacket or skirt. So I have rightfully named them my professor shoes. I am soo  in love with them.

I got my shoes in last night!! I ran down the hall when Matt told me that I had a packaged. How could I have forgotten to stalk the front door for them to come in. I tore open the box and couldn't wait to see these beauties. I tried them on and .........they are too big!!! Oh no, that can't be. I  went to a local store to try on some TOMS to find my size. I knew beforehand that you are supposed to get a half size smaller but when I tried them on at the store, I could barely fit into an 8, so I thought I was gonna be fine. So then comes the pouting and sulking. I called all of the local stores that would have TOMS to see if they had any in stock, no such luck. They were just released so none of the stores have them. So I guess I will have to send them back and get a half size smaller. That means 1-2 more weeks with out these. Patience is not my virtue and it will be pure torture till I get these back.

Aren't they the cutest things ever. They are perfect for fall with the orange and blue accent colors. They are also super soft and pretty thin which should let some air flow and not get too stuffy. I will keep you posted and let you know when I get my professor shoes back in my arms. Oh professor how I will miss you. If I have waited 2 years so far, I guess I can wait another few weeks.

Comments are much appreciated!
