Sewing slowly

Last night, I brought out my brand new sewing machine that my wonderful hubby got me for christmas. I am soo afraid of it, I'm not sure why. My mother-in-law, showed me a few things on her sewing machine during Christmas at her house and I was pretty comfortable with hers. But it's so different since I've never used this one and it is a little different. I am afraid that I'll break it or mess up my clothes. I braved it out though and started by putting thread on my bobin. mission accomplished. I had problems putting the bobin in the bottom part however. (bear with me I dont know the lingo yet) But I got everything working just like it should a few minutes later. I had a pair of pants that I got from the Limited for $11.99, (nice deal, so if i mess them up, im only out $12.) they were too long so I needed to hem them. Matt also had one of his favorite t-shirts that had a hole in the arm. So, I practiced first on a piece of fabric that Mrs. Pat had given me and then mended matt's poor shirt. He was so excited, it was probably b/c of the smile on my face that I had succeded in my first job. haha. Next I pinned my pants and started sewing them. Its not the best job ever, by far, but it works. Luckily the legs are the same length, but the width between the stitch and bottom of pants are not even. I tried. I am a little sad, but like I said the pants were $12 and who ever looks at the bottom of someone's pants. I have a few more sewing projects to do, a lot of heming pants. I guess I am pretty short! (5'4") I also will be making a curtain for our bathroom, I will definately post pics when that is done. Sorry for the long and boring blog, I just wanted everyone to know of my great accomplishment. New Year Resolutions

I know many people believe that Resolutions are silly and ridiculous, they are, but it does help to keep you on track. These resolutions that I made this year are things that I was working on before and will continue hopefully forever and in hopes that they will just come easier to me.

1. keep up blog and website. I am already slacking in this category, but hopefully today I can catch up and start from here. I know I get sad when I check a blog (that I read religiously) and it hasn't been updated, so I will try to do my best.

2. Learn how to sew. My wonderful hubby got me a sewing machine for Christmas, so I want to learn how to sew many things. I plan on making more gifts this year for everyone. I am working on a project right now for the bathroom window. (actually I just have the fabric) I'll let everyone know when I am done with it.

3. READ more, Less TV. I watch an ungodly amount of t.v. between HGTV and my fav. tv shows I am sitting in front of the t.v for hrs a day. I could definately be using that time for good. (like pics) So I havent really been reading since high school and there are Lots of books that I want to read. I have already finished a book by Nicholas Sparks, and am now reading a book by Mike Huckabee! I am doing pretty good with this one, until Hero's, Chuck, and Pushing Daisies comes back on.

4. Workout and change diet. This is besides wanting to look good, but also for health reasons. I have a membership to Gold's Gym, and I am doing "Yoga Booty Ballet", which is a blast. I have also been cooking more foods that we don't usually have. Besides the normal, hot dogs, hamburger helper and frozen pizza. pics to come of recent cooking activites.

5. Photo workshops and etc. I really want to work on my skills this year and better myself, which in turn, gives you more enjoyment. I really want to go to a workshop this year so I know how to run my business and learn more photo tricks. This year I will be starting to use New books, so prices will go up on weddings. If anyone hears of any good workshops let me know.

Rachel & Jared

Rachel & Jared got married back in November. As you can tell I am little back-blogged. I am trying to catch up so I will have quite a few entries in the next few days. Well, back to Rachel, she and I worked together at Bruns Family dental. miss you guys! I promised her I would come back to Louisiana to do her wedding. They got married in a beautiful old chuch in Gonzales and their reception was at the Carriage House in Gonzales (which was where I got married). Rachel used to do Rodeos and it was soo amazing to see her in her wedding dress. I teared up as she walked down the aisle. She was a beautiful bride. We got some pretty amazing shots of the wedding.

Heathers senior photos

My friend and co-worker Heather graduated from A&M this winter and asked me to take her senior pictures for her. It was really fun and we got to go all over campus, which I had never been. Heather even took her dog Sophie and she joined her for a few pics. That evening we also did some Christmas pictures of them and her boyfriend Alex. (I probably wont post those right now) Here are a few from the session.

The Edited.

Here are a few of the pictures we did not pick for our Christmas card, but were worthy of showing. I dragged Matt out one sat. afternoon, and as always here in college station, it was a gloomy and windy day. We did what we could with what we had. So I dragged him to downtown bryan and set up my tripod all over town. We didnt have too much of a crowd, thank goodness. I bought a nifty remote control for my camera, so that I no longer have to run back and forth to set the timer. I thought not having to run around would save my hair, but no, the winds where like gail force and were non-stop almost. We had a good time nonetheless and I took about a hundred pictures. Poor Matt, but he did no complaining. He's a trooper. So here are the finalists.

Comments are much appreciated!
